With the 2027 Punjab elections approaching, the Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiromani Akali Dal have already stepped up rallies, yatras and voter outreach. Congress, meanwhile, has relied heavily on protests and individual programmes, with its sustained state wide campaign still to roll out. That raises the sharper question: Why does Congress keep reaching the campaign battlefield late and can the party ever learn from its past mistakes before another election is already underway ?

Punjab Congress has faced repeated internal battles over leadership, with factions around senior leaders clashing over roles and control. The Channi–Warring dispute, protests, boycotts and the change of Punjab in-charge from Bhupesh Baghel to Sachin Pilot have all highlighted how difficult unity has been. So the bigger question is: Has Punjab Congress spent so much energy fighting over leadership that its own internal egos have become a bigger challenge than its political opponents ?
