After the 2022 defeat in Raikot, Kamil Amar Singh’s result raised uncomfortable questions for the Congress. Despite being the son of Congress MP Dr. Amar Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, he secured 36,015 votes (31.7%) but could not counter AAP’s momentum. In Raikot, did voters move beyond family background and judge candidates more on local presence and performance ? And as 2027 approaches, will Congress continue to bank on familiar surnames or rethink its Raikot strategy to match a changing voter mood ?
