Sushil Kumar Rinku’s political rise has been quick, but his party switches have been quicker. He won Jalandhar West in 2017 on a Congress ticket, moved to AAP and won the 2023 Lok Sabha bypoll after the demise of Santokh Singh Chaudhary, then quit AAP to join the BJP in 2024, only to lose the Lok Sabha election badly to Charanjit Singh Channi. Did these rapid switches turn early momentum into lasting damage ? And as 2027 approaches, will the BJP back Rinku again, possibly keeping Sheetal Angural aside or has voter trust already slipped beyond repair ?

With Punjab already under fiscal strain, the push looks ambitious and risky.
