Every time the Shiromani Akali Dal witnesses a split, the breakaway faction claims to be the "real" guardian of Panthic values while promising to restore the party's lost glory. Now, with SAD (Punar Surjit) led by Giani Harpreet Singh and Bibi Jagir Kaur, launching its Chandigarh unit and preparing to contest elections, Punjab's voters are once again being presented with another version of the "original" Akali Dal. But after decades of repeated splits, new banners and familiar faces, are these breakaway factions truly rebuilding Akali politics, or simply dividing the same political space into smaller pieces ? If every faction claims to represent the true Akali legacy, is the Panthic movement becoming stronger through reform, or weaker through endless fragmentation ?
हर बार जब शिरोमणि अकाली दल में विभाजन होता है, तो नया गुट खुद को "असली" पंथिक विचारधारा का संरक्षक बताकर पार्टी की खोई हुई पहचान लौटाने का दावा करता है। अब ज्ञानी हरप्रीत सिंह और बीबी जागीर कौर के नेतृत्व वाला शिरोमणि अकाली दल (पुनर सुरजीत) भी चंडीगढ़ में संगठन खड़ा कर चुनावी मैदान में उतरने की तैयारी कर रहा है। लेकिन दशकों से चले आ रहे विभाजन, नए झंडे और लगभग वही चेहरे, क्या ये वास्तव में अकाली राजनीति का पुनर्निर्माण कर रहे हैं, या उसी राजनीतिक आधार को और छोटे-छोटे हिस्सों में बाँट रहे हैं ? अगर सभी गुट खुद को असली अकाली विरासत का उत्तराधिकारी बताता है, तो क्या पंथिक आंदोलन सुधार से मजबूत हो रहा है या लगातार बिखराव से कमजोर ?
