The Government of India has admitted in Parliament that the demand for DAP fertilizer in Punjab during the Rabi season was around 4 lakh Metric Tons. However, only 3.6 lakh Metric Tons of DAP were supplied. This is a serious concern because the area under Wheat cultivation in Punjab was record-breaking this time.

Once an Akali Dal MLA from Baba Bakala, he switched to the BJP before the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls, only to lose. In 2024, he contested again from Khadoor Sahib on a BJP ticket and lost once more. Experience and visibility have been there, results have not. So the real question going forward is this: Is Manjit Singh Manna Mianwind valued for his political weight or is he becoming a reminder of how hard it is for the BJP to turn party switchers into vote winners in Punjab ?

The BJP did not contest the Budhlada Assembly seat in 2022, reflecting its limited confidence on the ground in this Malwa constituency. Now, with former Budhlada MLA Mangat Rai Bansal, who won the seat in 2007 on a Congress ticket, joining the BJP in 2024 and being appointed constituency incharge, the party appears to be testing old electoral muscle in a new uniform. So the real question heading into 2027 is - Will the BJP finally take the risk of contesting Budhlada by trusting Mangat Rai Bansal as its face or will his Congress past and the party’s weak base keep Budhlada outside BJP’s serious electoral plans ?
