With AAP's strong performance in Punjab's civic elections and the party continuing to dominate much of the political conversation in the state, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has emerged as one of the central faces of Punjab politics ahead of 2027. While his supporters argue that he has successfully maintained AAP's popularity despite anti-incumbency expectations, critics say the real test is still to come. This raises an intriguing question has Bhagwant Mann managed to transform himself from being AAP's most popular campaigner into its strongest governing asset, or will the next Assembly election ultimately become a referendum on whether voters believe his Government has delivered on its promises ?
Former AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh dropped what could have been one of the biggest political bombs in recent years when, after joining the BJP, he alleged that money was paid to secure a Rajya Sabha seat from the Aam Aadmi Party. In most democracies, such a charge would trigger nonstop prime-time debates, fierce political attacks, demands for investigations, and endless media scrutiny. Instead, the controversy flared up briefly and then seemed to vanish into thin air. AAP's opponents did not pursue it aggressively, BJP did not appear eager to turn it into a major national campaign, and much of the media quickly moved on. For many observers, the silence has become almost as intriguing as the allegation itself. So today, was this simply a claim that lacked enough evidence to survive, or did Harbhajan Singh accidentally touch one of Indian politics' most uncomfortable subjects, one that too many powerful players across too many parties would rather keep buried ?
