पंजाब में 1 लाख 14 हज़ार हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र में आलू की फ़सल उगाई जाती है जिसका उत्पादन 31 लाख टन के क़रीब है। प्रति हेक्टेयर उत्पादन लगभग 27 हज़ार किलो है, यह सीमा पार और मध्य एशिया के बाज़ार के लिए निर्यात का बहुत बड़ा अवसर है।

But Punjab’s voters may ask a tougher question: will this model actually solve the state’s problems of jobs, farmers’ concerns, debt, industry and law and order, or will “double engine” remain just another election slogan ? Can the BJP turn the double-engine pitch into a winning argument in Punjab ?
