The highest number of markets are in Ludhiana, with 14 recognized market committees.

ਗੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਔਜਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਆਧਾਰ ਮੁੜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਔਜਲਾ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਚੋਣ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਰਲੀ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਰਚਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ। ਕੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ, ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਔਜਲਾ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ-ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਧੜੇਬੰਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ? ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਕੀ ਆਖ਼ਿਰਕਾਰ ਚੋਣ ਜਿਤਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਵੱਧ ਭਾਰੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ?
