with approximately 156 market committees (APMCs) used for the purchase and sale of farmer's crops.

The highest number of markets are in Ludhiana, with 14 recognized market committees.

ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਅਸਫਲਤਾ, ਅਧੂਰੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ, ਵੱਧਦੇ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ, ਨਸ਼ੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵਿਗੜਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ, ’ਤੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਠੀਕ ਵੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਦਲ ਬਦਲ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰੇਆਮ ਲੁੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਾਂ ਦੋ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਖੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਚੋਣ ਖਰਚੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਪ-ਚੋਣ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਿਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ? ਕੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ ਦੇਣਾ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਘਰਾਂ ਚੋਂ 100–125 ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਬਲ ਬੰਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁਣ ਸਕਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੋਟਰ ਵੀ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਹਨ ?

When people criticize the Government for every failure, broken promises, rising corruption, growing drug abuse, and the general decline of Punjab, it may feel justified. Yet if voters themselves keep supporting leaders who openly abandon the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, switch parties only for power, loot the public without shame, or contest from two constituencies and later force costly re-elections, then who is truly responsible for the state we have reached today ? Is it fair to blame only the leaders or must we also accept that voters share the responsibility, especially if we cannot bring even 100–125 honest and capable people out of our own homes to guide Punjab toward a better future ?
