with approximately 156 market committees (APMCs) used for the purchase and sale of farmer's crops.

The highest number of markets are in Ludhiana, with 14 recognized market committees.

ਨਵਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਪੂਰਬ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਾਫੀ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਗੈਰ-ਸਰਗਰਮ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਡਾ. ਨਵਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ 2027 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਵਾਦੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵਾਂ ਮੋੜ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਫ਼ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ, ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਇਸ ਨਵੀਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਅਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਪਲਾਨ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਖਾਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦੀ ਅਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਇਸ ਨਵੇਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਯਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ?
