The recent Panjab University student election, where an ABVP candidate won with backing from the Shiromani Akali Dal’s student wing, has added fresh fuel to speculation about whether the two parties could coordinate again. But translating a university-level partnership into Punjab’s wider electoral politics would still mean navigating seat-sharing, vote transfer, organisational differences and the old alliance’s political chemistry. So, is the BJP–Akali Dal alliance really over or is Punjab politics keeping one more plot twist in reserve ?
