With every election approaching, the Punjab BJP suddenly seems to rediscover Punjab's deras, religious institutions and cultural symbols, while confidently declaring itself the state's only hope. Yet despite years of organisational expansion and high-profile inductions, the party continues to struggle for meaningful electoral acceptance in Punjab. This raises a bigger question: Is the BJP genuinely building a grassroots movement in Punjab, or simply conducting another election-season pilgrimage in search of votes ? Can repeated symbolism substitute for the deep political trust that Punjab's regional politics has always demanded ?

Just when Punjab thought it had seen every political experiment, Nitish Kumar's JD(U) has entered the state's political arena. But with virtually no electoral base, little grassroots presence and the baggage of being a long-time NDA ally, many believe its role may be less about winning Punjab and more about strengthening the BJP's broader strategy. This raises a bigger question: Is JD(U) seriously fighting for its own political future in Punjab, or simply playing a supporting role in the BJP's game plan ?
