As 2027 approaches, the real question is– does relying on leaders like Hira Singh Gabria reflect Akali Dal’s faith in experience or does it expose the party’s difficulty in grooming fresh, winning faces in urban Punjab ?

In Nihal Singh Wala, Baldev Singh Manuke contested the 2022 Assembly election on the Shiromani Akali Dal ticket and secured 26,758 votes (19.1%), finishing close to Congress but far behind AAP’s sweep. The numbers showed he still held a core Akali vote, even as the party struggled to expand its reach. Now aligned with the Akali Dal Punar Surjit faction, the question for 2027 becomes sharper.
