Former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal is celebrating what he calls a “major victory” for Gidderbaha, the approval letter for a Railway Overbridge (RoB) and a Railway Underbridge (RUB) worth ₹80 Crores. He thanked the entire Delhi durbar, Ravneet Bittu, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and even PM Modi, as if Gidderbaha has suddenly become the Centre’s favourite child. But residents haven’t forgotten that they had to protest for 33 days just to get basic railway connectivity demands heard, and that these very promises were loudly made during the bypoll campaign last year. Is this approval a true achievement for Gidderbaha, or is it simply a perfectly timed political “gift,” designed to polish Manpreet’s declining political relevance and give BJP a development headline before 2027 ?
In the Punjab Congress, CM dreams are bigger than the party itself. Partap Bajwa wants to be CM. Charanjit Channi wants to be CM. Raja Warring wants to be CM. Navjot Singh Sidhu wants to be CM, but only if he gets “full power.” And Sunil Jakhar left long ago because he also wanted to be CM. Meanwhile, Congress as a party is shrinking faster than its list of CM candidates is growing. Has Punjab Congress become the only party where the CM race is bigger than the party itself ?
