Shiromani Akali Dal has long struggled to gain real traction in Dasua. Traditionally, the seat has moved between Congress and BJP, and in 2022, AAP disrupted that pattern by winning the constituency. That election also underlined Akali Dal’s weakness here: instead of fielding its own candidate, SAD contested Dasua in alliance with the BSP, which fielded Susheel Kumar Sharma. Even that experiment failed to make a serious impact. As 2027 nears, will Akali Dal finally field a strong candidate of its own from Dasua or does the party still lack a face capable of breaking into a seat where it has never truly mattered ?
शिरोमणि अकाली दल को दसुआ में कभी मज़बूत पकड़ नहीं मिल पाई है। परंपरागत रूप से यह सीट कांग्रेस और भाजपा के बीच घूमती रही है और 2022 में आम आदमी पार्टी ने जीत दर्ज कर इस पैटर्न को तोड़ दिया। उसी चुनाव में अकाली दल की कमजोरी भी साफ दिखी। पार्टी ने अपना उम्मीदवार उतारने के बजाय बसपा के साथ गठबंधन में दसुआ से सुशील कुमार शर्मा को मैदान में उतारा। लेकिन यह प्रयोग भी ज़मीन पर कोई असर नहीं दिखा सका। अब 2027 नज़दीक है, तो सवाल सीधा है: क्या अकाली दल इस बार दसुआ से अपना कोई मज़बूत उम्मीदवार उतारेगा या फिर पार्टी के पास आज भी ऐसा कोई चेहरा नहीं है जो उस सीट पर असर डाल सके जहाँ वह कभी सच में मायने नहीं रख पाई ?
Shiv Ram Kaler is no stranger to Jagraon politics. He was elected as MLA from Jagraon in 2012 on the Shiromani Akali Dal ticket, giving him both experience and long familiarity with the constituency. As 2027 approaches, the key question is: Does Shiv Ram Kaler’s past victory still give him relevance in today’s Jagraon or has time and changing voter mood pushed him into the background of Punjab politics ?
