In Ludhiana East, Jagmohan Sharma entered the fray as the BJP candidate but finished with 18,074 votes (12.51%), far behind the leading contenders. For a party that is trying to expand its footprint in Punjab, the result underlined a hard reality: visibility alone did not convert into votes. With BJP now claiming a bigger role in urban Punjab, the question is simple, was Jagmohan Sharma a testing-the-waters candidate or does his performance show how limited BJP’s electoral pull still is in Ludhiana East as 2027 approaches ?
