In your opinion, does the Indian government support this issue?
For earlier generations, television news was a primary source of political information. But Gen Z increasingly chooses its news through digital platforms, following specific journalists, explainers and independent voices instead of sitting through loud prime-time debates. The recent protests have further exposed this divide, with young people relying heavily on digital platforms to share information and challenge television narratives. If political parties once fought to control the television narrative, is Gen Z now taking that power back into its own hands ?
The recent protests have put Gen Z’s political influence under the spotlight. Unlike traditional movements built around established parties or leaders, this generation has shown that it can organise around common issues and put pressure on the political establishment. The bigger question now is whether Indian political parties will adapt to this new style of youth politics or continue playing by the old rulebook ?
