Why does India have such stark contrasts, with some cities embracing cutting-edge technology like 5G, while many rural areas still lack access to even basic primary education?
After spending more time fighting itself than the ruling party, Punjab Congress is now talking about “reinvention”, leadership surveys, new faces, and even dreaming of 95 out of 117 seats in 2027. Factions are still pulling each other down, pressure groups are active, and the search for an “acceptable leader” continues years after losing power. With Raja Warring, Bajwa, Channi, and others still jostling, the party seems busy measuring popularity instead of building authority. Is Congress preparing to fight AAP in 2027 or is it still stuck fighting itself while pretending something will magically fix leadership chaos ?
Fresh RTI details show Punjab MLAs claiming big travel and stay allowances while often using government vehicles as security escorts at the same time. Congress MLA Sukhwinder Singh tops the list with ₹15.17 Lakhs in TA/DA over three years, while AAP MLA Amit Rattan Kotfatta has claimed over ₹10 Lakhs. In sharp contrast, Congress MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh has refused to take any TA/DA at all. If official vehicles, fuel, and staff are already provided, why are private travel claims still being billed to the exchequer ? Is this just clever use of the rulebook or a quiet practice that normalises double spending while citizens are asked to tighten their belts ? And if some MLAs like Rana Gurjeet Singh can opt out completely, why can’t the rest ?
