In Nihal Singh Wala, the BJP has never made a real mark. In past elections, the party didn’t even field its own candidate, choosing to stay out while others fought the battle. Now, with BJP claiming it will contest all 117 seats in Punjab in 2027, the obvious question arises. Who will BJP field from Nihal Singh Wala ? Does the party even have a local face with ground presence here or will this seat expose the gap between BJP’s big announcements and its weak rural organisation ?
निहाल सिंह वाला में बीजेपी अब तक कोई खास असर नहीं दिखा पाई है। पिछले चुनावों में पार्टी ने यहां अपना उम्मीदवार तक नहीं उतारा और दूसरों को ही मुकाबला करने दिया। अब जब बीजेपी 2027 में पंजाब की सभी 117 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने का दावा कर रही है, तो एक सीधा सवाल खड़ा होता है। निहाल सिंह वाला से बीजेपी किसे मैदान में उतारेगी ? क्या पार्टी के पास यहां कोई ऐसा स्थानीय चेहरा है जिसकी ज़मीनी पकड़ हो या फिर यह सीट बीजेपी के बड़े दावों और कमजोर ग्रामीण संगठन के बीच का फर्क उजागर करेगी ?
In Bassi Pathana, Shiv Kumar Kalyan, who contested the 2022 Assembly election as the BSP candidate in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal, later joined the BJP in 2023. Despite the alliance, his vote share remained modest, underlining the limits of both BSP and Akali influence in the seat at that time. As BJP now claims it will contest all seats in Punjab in 2027, will the party trust Shiv Kumar Kalyan as its local face in Bassi Pathana ? And if BJP is serious about expansion, will it back ground-level leaders from smaller alliances or continue to search for a stronger name ?
