Once hailed as one of the Congress's biggest star campaigners in Punjab, former PPCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu now finds himself completely sidelined in the party's new organisational setup. After losing the 2022 election, his political influence steadily faded, while his wife, Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, was suspended from the Congress, announced a new political outfit, and has since largely gone silent. This raises a bigger question: Has the Congress quietly written off the Sidhus, or have the Sidhus themselves failed to convert popularity into lasting political relevance ? Can a leader known for fiery speeches survive in politics without organisational backing, electoral victories, or a clear political roadmap ?
कभी पंजाब कांग्रेस के सबसे बड़े स्टार प्रचारकों में गिने जाने वाले पूर्व पी.पी.सी.सी. अध्यक्ष नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू आज पार्टी की नई संगठनात्मक टीम से पूरी तरह बाहर नजर आ रहे हैं। 2022 का चुनाव हारने के बाद उनकी राजनीतिक पकड़ लगातार कमजोर होती गई। वहीं उनकी पत्नी डॉ. नवजोत कौर सिद्धू को कांग्रेस से निलंबित किया गया, उन्होंने नई राजनीतिक पार्टी बनाने का ऐलान किया, लेकिन उसके बाद वे भी लगभग राजनीतिक रूप से खामोश हो गईं। ऐसे में बड़ा सवाल यह है: क्या कांग्रेस ने सिद्धू दंपति को पूरी तरह किनारे कर दिया है, या फिर सिद्धू दंपति अपनी लोकप्रियता को स्थायी राजनीतिक ताकत में बदलने में असफल रहे ? क्या केवल जोशीले भाषणों के दम पर राजनीति में लंबे समय तक टिके रहना संभव है, जब संगठन, चुनावी जीत और स्पष्ट राजनीतिक दिशा साथ न हो ?
The Punjab Congress has once again attempted to balance competing leaders by retaining its existing leadership while redistributing responsibilities among senior faces. Yet visible dissatisfaction within the party has raised an uncomfortable question that goes beyond one reshuffle. Can an organisation truly achieve unity by accommodating every ambition, or does the constant search for internal balance slowly weaken decisive leadership ? Has the Congress become so focused on managing factions that it is forgetting to build a common purpose ?
