Its leaders have indicated that candidates could contest as Independents if registration is not granted, raising a bigger political question about how far the organisation can build a common identity without official party status. If registration remains pending or is denied, could this limit its ability to challenge the Shiromani Akali Dal for political space in Punjab ?
