Sukhbir Singh Badal has promised electricity at ₹5 per unit for industries if the Shiromani Akali Dal returns to power. He has also proposed solar power incentives, faster investment clearances and lower CLU charges to revive industry. But Punjab is already facing a heavy debt burden, with rising expenditure putting pressure on public finances. Can the state afford another major subsidy promise while struggling with debt or will the proposed industrial revival create enough investment and jobs to justify its cost ?
