As Congress observers meet leaders like Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Vijay Inder Singla, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and other senior figures to chart the party's course for 2027, an interesting question emerges: Is Punjab Congress quietly building a stronger second line of leadership, or is it still too dependent on a handful of familiar faces ? With several experienced leaders seeking a larger role in the party's revival, can Congress turn its depth into an advantage, or will competing expectations once again complicate its path back to power ?

As Rahul Gandhi once again turns to trusted loyalists to assess the Punjab Congress ahead of 2027, an uncomfortable question is being asked within the party. If Punjab's politics is so unique and complex, why is the job being handed to leaders who either have limited understanding of the state or have struggled electorally themselves ? Even Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel, despite multiple visits and reviews, has not been able to significantly improve the party's position or ease its factional infighting. As another assessment exercise begins, is Congress searching for solutions, or simply repeating a familiar formula ?
