With visible differences among leaders like Partap Singh Bajwa, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Charanjit Singh Channi, and a slow organisational response despite repeated setbacks, the Congress in Punjab seems caught in a familiar loop.
With the BJP rolling out aggressive mobilisation through Amit Shah’s proposed rallies and active outreach by leaders like Nayab Singh Saini, the ruling AAP pushing hard to secure a second term, and the Shiromani Akali Dal under Sukhbir Singh Badal launching statewide campaigns, the political tempo in Punjab is clearly rising. In contrast, the Congress appears largely confined to issue-based protests around national themes like MGNREGA, with limited visible state-level momentum or a strong grassroots push. At a time when rivals are setting the pace on the ground, is the Punjab Congress looking slow and lethargic, and could this lack of urgency end up costing the party its relevance in the 2027 race ?
