ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਕੈਨਾਲ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਜੋ ਡਿਵੈਲਪ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਪਰਬਰੀ ਦੁਆਬ ਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ-ਮਾਧੋਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਕੇ 7 ਬ੍ਰਾਂਚ ਨਹਿਰਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ 400 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ 250 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੂਏ ਤੇ ਖਾਲਾਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ 2400 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ 5 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਦੇ ਰਕਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
