Avtar Singh Minna’s 2022 switch from Akali Dal to BJP, after being sidelined in Zira, was seen as a bold break backed by personal legacy as the son of former MLA, late Jathedar Hari Singh Zira. But BJP’s weak base in Zira meant the rebellion made noise, not impact. Now, with 2027 approaching and Minna still identified as BJP’s face in the constituency, the question is hard to ignore. Can Minna turn a one-time rebellion into a real political footprint, or will BJP once again struggle to make a dent in a seat where it has historically failed to stand on its own ? Is Minna building ground strength quietly, or waiting for a wave that may never come ?
2022 में ज़ीरा से किनारे किए जाने के बाद अवतार सिंह मिन्ना का अकाली दल छोड़कर भाजपा में जाना एक बड़ा राजनीतिक कदम माना गया। पूर्व विधायक दिवंगत जत्थेदार हरि सिंह ज़ीरा के बेटे होने की विरासत ने पहचान तो दिलाई, लेकिन ज़ीरा में भाजपा की कमजोर पकड़ के कारण यह बगावत असर से ज़्यादा शोर बनकर रह गई। अब 2027 नज़दीक है और मिन्ना अभी भी ज़ीरा में भाजपा का चेहरा माने जाते हैं। सवाल साफ है, क्या मिन्ना एक बार की बगावत को मजबूत राजनीतिक आधार में बदल पाएंगे या भाजपा एक बार फिर उस सीट पर संघर्ष करेगी जहाँ वह कभी अपने दम पर जगह नहीं बना पाई ? क्या मिन्ना चुपचाप ज़मीनी पकड़ बना रहे हैं या किसी ऐसी लहर का इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं जो शायद आए ही नहीं ?
Prem Mittal won Mansa as an Akali Dal MLA in 2012, but in 2022 he crossed over to the BJP along with Captain Amarinder Singh. For decades, BJP has not fielded its own candidate from Mansa, preferring alliances or staying out of the fight altogether. As 2027 approaches, the question becomes unavoidable: Will BJP finally test the waters in Mansa by fielding Prem Mittal or continue to treat the seat as politically out of reach ? And can a leader who once won on an Akali Dal symbol persuade voters to back a party that has never stood on its own here ?
