The BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal are reportedly exploring an alliance ahead of the 2027 Punjab elections, with seat-sharing and the breakaway Akali faction still under discussion. The BJP, which secured over 18% of the vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has said it is preparing to contest all 117 seats. The Shiromani Akali Dal’s vote share fell to just over 13%. Both parties now face a key choice: contest separately or rebuild their old alliance, once rooted in Hindu-Sikh unity.
