The idea of industrial development in any state can be gauged from new industrial power connections in a state. Punjab, with 23 districts, has around 3,400 new industrial connections.
With Manpreet Singh Ayali claiming that the Panth has lost trust in the Shiromani Akali Dal and that Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) can fill the regional political vacuum, his confidence appears to be growing. But is Ayali reading Punjab’s anger against the Badal led Akali Dal as a ready made vote bank for his own party, while overlooking the harder question of whether Waris Punjab De has enough organisation, acceptance and electoral strength to convert that anger into seats ? And amid all this talk of changing Punjab’s politics, will Ayali himself be able to secure his own seat ?
