ਇੰਦਰ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਟਵਾਲ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਮੋੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰੀ ਹੈ। 2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਰਾਏਕੋਟ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਸਨ, ਪਰ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ, ਉਸ ਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ ਰਾਏਕੋਟ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ। 2023 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਟਵਾਲ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਦ ਹੀ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਉਪਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇ। ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ 2027 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਧਾਰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਵਾਲ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਅਟਵਾਲ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਰਾਏਕੋਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਹਨ ? ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਐਸੇ ਨੇਤਾ 'ਤੇ ਦਾਅ ਲਗਾਏਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਬਦਲਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਖੁਦ ਇਥੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ?
