When power comes with sermons on humility, it often signals nerves beneath confidence. If arrogance really pushed other parties out, does repeating the warning mean AAP sees the same risk in itself ? And when local body members are reminded that Assembly tickets are within reach, is service being encouraged or ambition being carefully managed before it spins out of control ? In Punjab politics, does folded hands politics last longer than folded deals ?

In Ludhiana South, Balwinder Singh Bains, a two-time former MLA and founding leader of the Lok Insaaf Party, was defeated in 2022, finishing well behind the AAP winner. In May 2024, he along with his brother Simarjeet Singh Bains, formally joined the Congress and merged their Lok Insaaf Party with it, aiming to strengthen the party’s position in Ludhiana and across Punjab. With 2027 approaching, the real question is, does Bains’s entry give Congress a boost in seats like Ludhiana South where old voters remember his tenure or does the baggage of past defeats and shifting affiliations show that even strong local brands struggle to hold ground in changed political currents ?
