Ravneet Bittu has been allocated the Food Processing ministry, will he be able to bring in any real change? Notably, this ministry was earlier held by Harsimrat Badal.
Vardev Singh Noni Mann, son of late Shiromani Akali Dal MP Zora Singh Mann, secured 57,769 votes and remained a strong contender till the end. For a party working on its revival across the state, the close contest sent a clear signal. So the question is, does this performance mark the return of Shiromani Akali Dal as a serious force, and could candidates like Noni Mann play a key role in pushing that revival further by 2027 ?

In the 2022 Assembly election, Prithi Ram Meghwal was fielded by the SAD–BSP alliance from Balluana after the original nominee withdrew at the last moment. Entering the race late and without the advantage of long groundwork, Meghwal secured 17,816 votes (12.38%), finishing a distant fourth as the constituency slipped out of Akali hands. As the Akali Dal looks ahead to 2027, the Balluana episode has renewed relevance. Does the 2022 experience underline the risks of last-minute candidate changes in shifting rural seats, and will SAD rethink how it selects and prepares candidates if it hopes to reclaim lost ground ?
