At a meeting with traders in Nabha, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal stressed that choosing the right Chief Minister was key to solving Punjab’s problems. He spoke about crime, GST, alleged inspector raj and the difficulties faced by small traders. He also promised relief under an Akali Dal Government. His remarks placed the Chief Minister’s role at the centre of Punjab’s future, while raising questions about his own leadership ambitions. Is Sukhbir Singh Badal presenting a governance agenda for Punjab or using public meetings to strengthen his own claim to the Chief Minister’s chair ?
नाभा में व्यापारियों के साथ एक बैठक के दौरान शिरोमणि अकाली दल के अध्यक्ष सुखबीर सिंह बादल ने कहा कि पंजाब की समस्याओं को हल करने के लिए सही मुख्यमंत्री चुनना बेहद ज़रूरी है। उन्होंने अपराध, जी.एस.टी., कथित इंस्पेक्टर राज और छोटे व्यापारियों की मुश्किलों पर बात की। उन्होंने शिरोमणि अकाली दल की सरकार बनने पर राहत देने का वादा भी किया। उनके बयानों ने पंजाब के भविष्य में मुख्यमंत्री की भूमिका को केंद्र में ला दिया और साथ ही उनकी अपनी नेतृत्व की महत्वाकांक्षाओं पर भी सवाल खड़े किए। क्या सुखबीर सिंह बादल पंजाब के लिए शासन का एजेंडा पेश कर रहे हैं या सार्वजनिक बैठकों के ज़रिए मुख्यमंत्री की कुर्सी पर अपना दावा मजबूत कर रहे हैं ?
Speculation over a possible reunion between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP has intensified after leaders from both parties were seen together at a wedding reception in Chandigarh. Yet, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal has refused to give a clear answer, saying, “You will get to know in a few days.” While Amit Shah has spoken of an NDA government in Punjab, the BJP’s state leadership says it will contest all 117 seats independently. These mixed signals have left the future of the two parties’ political partnership uncertain. Is Sukhbir Singh Badal’s silence a sign of uncertainty within the alliance talks or a calculated move to keep his options open before 2027 ?
