With the Shiromani Akali Dal now publicly saying that no alliance talks are underway with the BJP, and Harsimrat Kaur Badal also making it clear that she has not signalled a tie-up, the BJP’s 2027 Punjab strategy could face a very different political test. The BJP has already said it is preparing for all 117 seats and is building its own organisation across the state. In such a scenario, does the party now need to put forward a clear Punjab-based CM face to give its campaign a stronger local identity and which of its senior leaders could take on that role ?
