For years, the BJP in Lehra was just a silent spectator, dependent on Akali alliances and absent from rural conversations. But lately, with saffron outreach camps, farmer connect drives, and local leadership grooming, the party seems to be testing the soil of rural Punjab.

Puran Chand, BJP’s candidate from Jalalabad in 2022, managed only 5,418 votes and was completely crushed under AAP and Congress. Interestingly, BJP had never contested Jalalabad alone before 2022, always relying on alliances. If the party really thinks of fighting all the elections alone in 2027, the challenge will be even bigger. The real question is; does BJP really think it can go solo? If yes, who will BJP field to try and make a mark here?
