Punjab’s much-publicised “Sikhya Kranti” is now facing sharp questions on the ground as protesting students gherao the residence of Kultar Singh Sandhwan, not with applause but with anger over NEP 2020, job reservations, and ignored demands. While the Government continues to celebrate its education “revolution” through headlines and campaigns, students seem to be sending a very different message, one of frustration, neglect, and being pushed to the streets just to be heard. When students have to leave classrooms and stand outside the Speaker’s gate, pasting their demands on the walls because no one comes out to listen, it raises an uncomfortable question, was “Sikhya Kranti” ever about real change, or just good optics ? And if this is what an education revolution looks like, why does it feel more like protest politics than progress ?
पंजाब की बहुचर्चित “शिक्षा क्रांति” अब ज़मीन पर ही सवालों के घेरे में है, क्योंकि प्रदर्शन कर रहे छात्र कुलतार सिंह संधवां के घर का घेराव कर रहे हैं, तालियों के साथ नहीं, बल्कि नई शिक्षा नीति 2020, नौकरी में आरक्षण और अनदेखी मांगों को लेकर गुस्से के साथ। एक तरफ सरकार अपनी “शिक्षा क्रांति” का जश्न मना रही है, दूसरी तरफ छात्र एक अलग ही तस्वीर दिखा रहे हैं, निराशा, अनदेखी और सुने जाने के लिए सड़कों पर उतरने की मजबूरी। जब छात्रों को कक्षा छोड़कर स्पीकर के गेट के बाहर खड़ा होना पड़े, और अपनी मांगें दीवारों पर चिपकानी पड़ें क्योंकि कोई सुनने नहीं आता, तो एक सीधा सवाल उठता है, क्या “शिक्षा क्रांति” सच में बदलाव के लिए थी या सिर्फ दिखावे के लिए और अगर यही क्रांति है, तो यह प्रगति से ज़्यादा विरोध क्यों लग रही है ?
Punjab politics is once again under intense scrutiny as Bhagwant Mann’s Government sees yet another MLA, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, arrested, making him the sixth AAP legislator to face action during this tenure. Along with him, names like Laljit Singh Bhullar, Vijay Singla, Amit Rattan Kotfatta, Raman Arora, and Manjinder Singh Lalpura have also surfaced in previous cases. While the Government claims this reflects a strong stand on law and accountability, critics argue that repeated arrests of elected representatives raise serious questions about candidate selection, internal checks, and overall governance standards. With multiple cases involving ministers and MLAs, is this truly a sign of zero tolerance against wrongdoing, or does it point toward deeper structural issues within the system ?
