Punjab teachers are being assigned non-academic duties such as ration-card verification, census work, drug surveys and election duties. At the same time, the Government has acknowledged that teachers are already overworked. If the Bhagwant Mann Government wants an “education revolution”, why are teachers being pulled out of classrooms to handle work meant for other departments ? When teachers are already stretched, is this approach taking even more time away from students and weakening the very education system the Government says it wants to improve ?
पंजाब के शिक्षकों को राशन कार्ड सत्यापन, जनगणना, नशा सर्वेक्षण और चुनाव ड्यूटी जैसे गैर-शैक्षणिक काम सौंपे जा रहे हैं। वहीं, सरकार ने भी माना है कि शिक्षक पहले से ही काम के बोझ से दबे हुए हैं। अगर भगवंत मान सरकार “शिक्षा क्रांति” चाहती है, तो शिक्षकों को कक्षाओं से बाहर निकालकर दूसरे विभागों का काम क्यों कराया जा रहा है ? जब शिक्षक पहले ही दबाव में हैं, तो क्या यह तरीका छात्रों को मिलने वाला समय और कम कर रहा है और उसी शिक्षा व्यवस्था को कमजोर कर रहा है, जिसे सरकार बेहतर बनाने का दावा करती है ?
Nirmala Sitharaman has rejected the Aam Aadmi Party Government’s claim that Punjab is being denied its entitled funds, saying payments are released on time. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has disputed the Centre’s position and listed several meetings where the RDF issue was raised. But here’s the real question: with both sides blaming each other over Punjab’s funds, is the Centre–Punjab funding fight becoming another political shield before the 2027 election, where every financial problem can simply be pushed onto the other side ?
