Kabir Dass, former Congress general secretary and key Dera Sachkhand Ballan leader, switched to Shiromani Akali Dal under Sukhbir Singh Badal’s guidance in 2016. He contested from Nabha twice on an Akali Dal ticket but lost in both 2017 and 2022.
