Punjab has approved an 8% DA hike after high-level talks with employees and pensioners. The Aam Aadmi Party is calling it an example of resolving protests through dialogue instead of confrontation. But with employee groups also raising other long-pending demands, the timing raises a bigger political question. Is the DA hike mainly a genuine step to address employee concerns or does it also help the government ease pressure before the 2027 election ?
