Is society ready to promote sports again for collective well-being?
The BJP often promotes its “double-engine government” model, claiming that having the same party in power at the Centre and in a state speeds up development. But Punjab has its own political identity, strong regional concerns and a history of strained Centre-state relations. Issues such as farmers’ demands, the role of the state in decision-making and the BJP’s limited regional base raise questions about whether this model can gain public trust in Punjab. Can the BJP’s double-engine formula work in Punjab or could its centralised approach become its biggest roadblock ?

With the Shiromani Akali Dal–BJP alliance talks gaining attention, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has referred an alleged ₹736.96-Crores money laundering case involving Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The state government has named Majithia as the alleged mastermind and primary beneficiary of a financial network involving companies, foreign entities and assets. Majithia has denied the allegations. Now, the focus shifts to the ED, which works under the BJP-led Central Government. Will the BJP-led Centre allow the ED to pursue the case against Majithia, even as it explores a possible political alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal ?
