Love Kumar Goldy was a two-time Congress MLA from Garhshankar, son of two-time MLA Pandit Sarvan Ram, a family deeply rooted in the constituency. But in 2021, when Captain Amarinder Singh walked out of Congress, Goldy went with him. Consequently, Congress denied him the ticket in 2022 and instead fielded Amarpreet Singh Lally, who lost. Goldy, meanwhile, kept informally helping Congress from the outside and finally returned to the party in 2024, now hoping to reclaim his old position and influence. Ahead of 2027, will Congress trust field him again in Garhshankar ?
लव कुमार गोल्डी दो बार गढ़शंकर से कांग्रेस के विधायक रह चुके हैं। उनके पिता पंडित सरवन राम भी दो बार इसी सीट से कांग्रेस विधायक रहे, यानि यह परिवार लंबे समय से गढ़शंकर की राजनीति में गहराई से जुड़ा रहा है। लेकिन 2021 में जब कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने कांग्रेस छोड़ी, गोल्डी भी उनके साथ चले गए। इसके चलते 2022 में कांग्रेस ने उन्हें टिकट नहीं दिया और अमरप्रीत सिंह लाली को उम्मीदवार बनाया, लेकिन वे चुनाव हार गए। इसी दौरान गोल्डी कांग्रेस से बाहर होकर भी पार्टी की अनौपचारिक मदद करते रहे और आखिरकार 2024 में वापस कांग्रेस में शामिल हो गए। अब वे अपनी पुरानी पकड़ और भूमिका वापस पाने की कोशिश में हैं। 2027 से पहले बड़ा सवाल यह है कि क्या कांग्रेस उन्हें दोबारा गढ़शंकर से टिकट देगी ?

Infighting, accusations, counter-accusations, Congress appears to be digging its own pit for 2027, long before voters get a chance to do it. So the real question is: How can Congress hope to win Punjab in 2027 when its own leaders are busy destroying each other ?
