Ranjit Singh Dhillon’s political journey in Ludhiana East shows how quickly ground realities can change. The Akali Dal leader won the seat in 2012, but by the 2022 Assembly elections, he slipped to 20,369 votes (14.1%), finishing well behind the front-runners. The slide continued in 2024, when he lost the Ludhiana Lok Sabha election to Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. With his vote share shrinking and the constituency moving on, the question is, has Ranjit Singh Dhillon’s influence in Ludhiana East already peaked or can the Akali Dal still revive a leader whose numbers fell sharply in the past elections ?

Nachhatar Pal won Nawanshahr as a BSP MLA with SAD–BSP support, polling over 37,000 votes and emerging as a key Dalit face. But his repeated presence on AAP stages, alongside Bhagwant Mann, at government launches, and close to leaders who already switched sides, has fuelled strong speculation. While he says it’s only about getting work done for his area, both BSP and SAD admit they are watching carefully.
