Punjab Congress was expected to emerge as the principal challenger to the AAP ahead of 2027. Instead, the spotlight remains firmly on its internal rebellion. With senior leaders openly uniting against Raja Warring and some reportedly declaring they would accept anyone as PPCC Chief except him, one uncomfortable question refuses to fade: Has Raja Warring become the biggest obstacle to the Congress's revival in Punjab ? If a party president cannot command the confidence of his own senior colleagues, how can he hope to inspire workers and voters across the state ?

For months, the Punjab Congress was consumed by lobbying, rival camps, public pressure and demands for a leadership change. Yet Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge refused to alter their decision, retaining Raja Warring as Punjab Congress chief and Partap Singh Bajwa as Leader of Opposition despite visible internal dissent. Their message was unmistakable, the Congress high command, not competing factions, will decide the party's future. But this raises a larger question: Is the Congress under Rahul Gandhi and Kharge becoming a more disciplined organisation, or a more centralised one ? Can a party strengthen internal democracy if its biggest organisational decisions are driven by the high command rather than broader organisational consensus ?
