Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwaddi was elected MLA from Jandiala (1985) and Khadoor Sahib (1992, 1997) on a Shiromani Akali Dal ticket. After SAD denied him a ticket, he joined Congress in 2017. In 2022, SAD gave the ticket to Parvinder Singh Sohana, who had once left the party to join Azad Group before returning, but SAD still could not turn SAS Nagar in its favor.
