According to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the annual Consumer Price Index has increased by 5.5 percent in the month of September, which is the highest rate in a long time.
In Kartarpur, the Shiromani Akali Dal registered wins in 2007 and 2012, but has failed to make a dent since then. In 2022, Akali Dal fought in alliance with the BSP, and BSP candidate Advocate Balwinder Kumar secured 33,709 votes (27.2%), showing visible strength but not enough to reclaim the seat. As 2027 approaches, an important question emerges: can the Akali Dal–BSP combine revive Kartarpur after more than a decade without a win or has the seat moved beyond their old formula ?
करतारपुर में शिरोमणि अकाली दल ने 2007 और 2012 में जीत दर्ज की थी, लेकिन उसके बाद पार्टी यहां कोई खास असर नहीं दिखा पाई। 2022 में अकाली दल ने बसपा के साथ गठबंधन में चुनाव लड़ा, जिसमें बसपा उम्मीदवार एडवोकेट बलविंदर कुमार को 33,709 वोट (27.2%) मिले। यह समर्थन मजबूत था, लेकिन सीट वापस पाने के लिए काफी नहीं रहा। अब जब 2027 नज़दीक आ रहा है, तो सवाल अहम हो जाता है: क्या अकाली दल–बसपा गठबंधन एक दशक से ज़्यादा समय बाद करतारपुर में वापसी कर पाएगा या यह सीट अब उनकी पुरानी रणनीति से आगे निकल चुकी है ?
Paramjit Singh Dhillon contested from Samrala on a Shiromani Akali Dal ticket in 2022 and is now serving as in-charge of the constituency. Despite finishing second with around 26,600 votes, Akali Dal remained far behind AAP’s winning margin. With SAD trying to rebuild its base and stay relevant ahead of 2027, a simple question now stands: Can Paramjit Singh Dhillon actually turn organisational work into a winning formula for Akali Dal in Samrala or does the party still face an uphill task here ?
