Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar says the possibility of a BJP–Akali Dal alliance cannot be ruled out, even as other BJP leaders continue to speak about contesting all 117 seats on their own. The contrasting signals raise an obvious question why does every BJP leader seem to have a different script for Punjab ? If the party is confident about fighting alone, why keep the alliance window open ? And if a reunion with the Akalis remains a serious possibility, why continue projecting a solo mission ? As Khattar's remarks add to the speculation, is the BJP keeping its political options open, or revealing that its Punjab strategy is still being negotiated behind closed doors ?
