When Congress talks about sharing power, the final word often comes from someone else. In Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin has made it clear that power will not be shared, no matter how loudly Congress asks. And that brings the focus back to Rahul Gandhi. If Congress is a key ally but still has no say in government formation, what does that say about Rahul Gandhi’s standing with partners ? When leaders like Stalin draw firm lines, it is a sign that Congress no longer sets terms anywhere ? Is Rahul Gandhi leading a party that others follow or one that survives only at the mercy of stronger regional leaders like Stalin?
Despite years of loud claims about development and global rise, the ground reality tells a more uncomfortable story. The rupee is weaker than ever, prices of food and daily items keep rising, jobs remain uncertain, and inequality is at record levels. Yet under Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party continues to deliver strong election results across states. This contrast raises a complex question about Indian politics today. Are elections being won because people feel their lives are improving or because powerful narratives, identity politics and constant campaigning have replaced hard accountability ?
