In 2022, the BJP chose not to field any candidate here. With 2027 approaching and the party projecting a “new beginning” in Punjab, will that cautious approach finally change ? Is Cheema building BJP’s case to enter Payal as a serious contender or is the groundwork once again meant only to support alliances and optics rather than a direct fight ? And after years of organisational activity, when does preparation turn into participation ?
