After losing badly in Dirba in 2022 with just 10,472 votes (7.21%), Ajaib Singh Rataul didn’t just exit the race, he exited the party, leaving Congress and joining the BJP soon after. But BJP has almost no presence in Dirba, and Rataul’s own vote share has been shrinking for two elections straight.

Opinion

A) BJP may try using Rataul as their face in Dirba, hoping at least for visibility in a seat where they barely exist.

B) His back-to-back defeats may make even BJP hesitate to risk him again.

C) SAD and AAP dominance in Dirba could leave Rataul stuck on the sidelines regardless of which party he joins.

D) Switching party might help Rataul personally, but it may not help him win Dirba in any real sense.
